Other use of rubbing alcohol

Don't spend time on cold winter mornings scraping frost off your windshield. Keep a spray bottle of alcohol in your car. Just spray it on the windshield, and you'll be able to wipe the frost off easily.

When you wash your windows during cold weather, add a half cup of rubbing alcohol to every quart of water. After washing them down, polish the windows with newspaper. This will keep them free of frost all winter. If you don't have alcohol handy, try the same recipe with anti-freeze.

If your new shoes are pinching your feet, try swabbing the tight spot with a cotton ball soaked in alcohol. Walk around in the shoes for a few minutes to see if they've loosened up enough to be comfortable.

Clean dirty venetian by wrapping an old rag around a spatula to make a neat tool for cleaning the delicate slats in Venetian blinds. Dampen the rag with rubbing alcohol, secure it with a rubber band, and you're on your way to cleaner blinds.

If you shirt collars are constantly stained, wipe your neck with rubbing alcohol each morning before you get dressed.

Polish those chrome bathroom fixtures with rubbing alcohol. It will leave them spotless, and since it evaporates, you won't have to rinse.

If a tick has a hold on your dog, dab a little alcohol on its back, then pull it out with tweezers. Make sure you pull it out straight and clean. Anything you leave behind can become infected.

Make an emergency ice pack. To make a slushy ice pack that will mold around an injury, mix one part of rubbing alcohol with three parts water in a zip lock bag. The alcohol will keep it from freezing completely, resulting in frozen "slush." When you need to use it, simply take it out, pop it into another bag or wrap in a cloth and apply to the injury. It also works great for soothing headaches.

Alcohol can be use to clean your phone. For the small areas, use a cotton swab. For the larger areas, use a paper towel or cloth. The alcohol will tidy up the phone and kill germs at the same time.
